CASA MAGMA

Casa Magma arises as a tribute to the duality between creation and destruction that defines the volcanic landscape of Lanzarote. Inspired by the ancestral memory of magma, which shaped the island with its dance of fire and stone, this home reflects the powerful contrast between the hardness of the rock and the softness of the sea horizon.

At the heart of Casa Magma, a circular form rises as a point of connection between the vastness of the sky and the strength of the earth, evoking the view from a volcanic crater towards the infinite. This central space articulates the house’s environments, functioning as a meeting place that connects the spiritual with the earthly. At the same time, the design opens to the exterior, framing natural elements such as the horizon and the volcanoes, in a constant dialogue with the surroundings.

The entrance to the house is created through a void that divides the built volume into two masses, creating a smooth transition between the exterior and interior. This journey allows for a discovery experience, where spaces unfold to reveal framed views of the volcanic landscape, making every corner a celebration of the environment.

With organic and fluid forms, the house recalls the vernacular architecture of the gambuesas, shelters that offered protection in the harsh beauty of the island’s landscape. Local materials and volcanic textures allow Casa Magma to harmoniously integrate with the land, not just as a construction but as an extension of Lanzarote’s untamed spirit.
